After my son, Elijah, was stillborn in June 2016, I began writing about my experiences. My grief on social media led to an abundance of support that helped the beginnings of coping after loss. My openness attracted women who had also suffered losses from stillbirths, miscarriages, or other experiences such as SIDS. Many of them would send messages or e-mails for comfort and advice.

In January 2017, I decided to share my experiences on a new platform to document the journey after loss. Through blogging, I was able to increase awareness on stillbirth and a deeper understanding on the trials and triumphs of a bereaved mother. Overtime, my (in)fertility journey has been included, since trying-to-conceive has been a huge part of life after baby loss.

Since then, I have created a Facebook group, Blogging Through Baby Loss, which is a community of baby loss parents and bloggers. My hope is to expand this group to provide further support to those struggling with the familiar waves of grief and inspire the healing powers of writing, journaling, and blogging. Feel free to join our community or invite someone who may find our group a safe haven!

Hey, there! I'm Phonesavanh, but many know me by my middle name, Sanda. I live in the San Francisco Bay Area with my husband, Yao. We have been together since December 2011. I enjoy lots of yummy reading time (lit. fiction, memoirs, alt. health, self-help, spiritual). My second home is anywhere inside of a used-bookstore. If I am not reading, I am writing, making art, binge-watching t.v. shows (mystery, crime, supernatural) on Netflix, or out near the water with my husband, who lives and breathes for fishing!

Some things I love: crystals, incense, essential oils, inspiring quotes, boba milk tea, unique finds, and of course, loads of books! What I find fascinating: nature/plants, numerology, dream meanings, meditation, ancient teachings/cultures. I am a firm believer in encompassing mind, body, and spirit for ultimate health and wholeness. Currently, at 26-years-old, I am a graduate of National Holistic Institute in Emeryville, California and is a Certified Massage Therapist and Health Educator. You can find out more about my massage services at mindbodyspiritbysanda.com.

My maternal grandmother has nine children and paternal grandmother has six. I am the eldest of five. My husband also comes from a large family, he is child #8 out of 11! (I daydream of having a big family on a ranch some day.)
Declaring a major in college was hard; there were so many things I wanted to do and learn. Eventually, I graduated from community college with an Associate's in Social Science, then a certificate in Child Development. I later decided to attend massage school.
I scored "INFJ" on the Myers-Briggs personality test (100% accurate!) This is the rarest personality type!!
An advice that has always stuck with me since childhood: “You can do anything you put your heart into.”
